O
n a warm Thursday April afternoon - I was on my         way to visit a dear friend in Middletown, California.
At the last minute, I decided to take a little used back-
road that wends its way up through the Pope Valley. Soon, I was traveling up out of the Napa Valley - through the college town of Angwin and turning north onto Pope Valley Road.
Again, I was made aware of why it's always best to listen to ones instincts - for suddenly I was surrounded by an explosion of wildflowers. Carpets of color and perfume stretching in every direction. Floral heaven! Magnificent!
Two days later - I returned to this lush scene - that I might
give my cameras a proper workout. And here are a few of the images of that afternoon's photo safari.
A much wetter than normal winter and now some warm temperatures - have combined - full bloom - to bring about one of the most memorable springtimes in years.
My friend - Shelley Burton - who knows no boundries in her enthusiasm for wildflowers, accompanied me on this Saturday redux. I didn't tell her where we were going or why - and it was delightful to see the smile etched on her face that entire afternoon.
ENJOY...
